Reason #1: Our very own Tyre Conrey was presented as the 2015-2016 HAPA Recording Secretary during the introduction of the slate.
Reason #2: For the third year in a row, a collegiate Pi Phi has won a HAPA scholarship! There were 30 applicants and 5 recipients.
Wakako Horiuchi is this year's recipient of the Jacque Law Scholarship. Wakako graduated from Sacred Hearts Academy in 2012 and is currently attending Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. She was initiated into the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women in 2013 and has served as the Vice President of Fraternity Development as well as the Health and Wellness Chair and on the Initiation Committee. In addition, she works as an undergraduate research assistant at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in a neurology lab. Wakako is also a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician and volunteers on the Hopkins Emergency Response Unit, serves as the Internal Vice President of the Nu Rho Psi Undergraduate Neuroscience Society, a dancer on the JHU Eclectics, and a member of Hopkins Hawaii Ohana. After graduation, Wakako plans to go to medical school to pursue her dream of becoming a pediatric emergency physician.
